Alright, gather 'round, because we've got a serious situation brewing in the land of Middle Earth. Andy Serkis—aka the genius who turned Gollum into a household name—has decided to step into the spotlight and address the very white casting of the iconic Lord of the Rings trilogy. Yes, you heard that right!

As he gears up for his new project, The Hunt For Gollum (which, like, I need on my calendar for December 2027), Andy’s opened a can of worms that we all knew was lurking under the surface. Can you imagine? A franchise that snagged eleven Oscars and still managed to be so pale it’s practically translucent.

In a recent chinwag with the BBC—because where else do you spill tea?—he admitted, "Yes, there have been criticisms". I mean, who wouldn’t criticize a cast that looks like it just stepped out of a snowstorm? Apparently, Andy’s going on about Tolkien’s Norse mythology influences, which, let’s be real, is not the poster child for diversity either.

But hold up! He’s not just jumping on the politically correct bandwagon to save face. No, no! He’s claiming they’ll acknowledge the critiques while still keeping the original flavor intact. So, basically, we might get a sprinkle of diversity but don’t hold your breath for a rainbow.

Now, who’s gearing up for The Hunt For Gollum? Well, surprise, surprise—our fave chaos agent is back as Gollum, and gasp, the legendary Ian McKellen is dusting off his robes to reprise his role as Gandalf the Grey. Let’s just pray they’ve learned a thing or two because we all know this fandom can turn into a mob with pitchforks faster than you can say One Ring to rule them all.

Keep your eyes peeled, because you know when it comes to Middle Earth, the tea is always on the boil!
