Hold onto your beverages, because the daughter of comedy legend Richard Pryor is dropping some serious family tea, and trust me, it’s hot! Elizabeth Stordeur Pryor, the third eldest of the funnyman’s brood (because, let’s keep it real, he was a busy guy), has unveiled a deeply traumatic childhood memory involving her mother and a very inappropriate racial slur. Yikes! In her upcoming memoir, Something We Said: Richard Pryor, a Notorious Word, and Me, she spills the tea that during a fight at just 12 years old, her white mother allegedly hurled the N-word at her. Can we take a quick pause to let that sink in? Because wow. This moment has haunted her, serving as her rude awakening to the harsh realities of being a biracial woman. Ugh.
Elizabeth also revealed to PEOPLE that while she always felt her mom cared for her, there was a major void in discussions about her Black identity, especially with her mother’s side of the family. Like, hello? Apparently, this confusion led her to ask her cousins, "Did you know that I was Black?" Can you imagine the awkwardness at family gatherings?
Oh, and just to keep it spicy, Richard, who passed away in 2005 at the age of 65, had a whopping seven kids with six different women. The drama runs deep in this family tree, folks! Here’s hoping Elizabeth pens a sequel because we are so ready for more of this chaos!
