Well, here we go again. A certain duo just scored Emmy nominations, and we’re all supposed to act surprised. Sigh. Carey Mulligan finally gets her first-ever nod for her role as an interior designer in some Netflix dark comedy called Beef—you know, the one that spirals from a road rage incident into utter chaos. Riveting stuff, right? Can’t wait to see how that pans out.
She’s up against Claire Danes, Sally Field, and Sarah Snook in the Outstanding Lead Actress category. Drumroll, please. Excuse me while I try to stifle my boredom. Apparently, angst on wheels is a thing people rave about now.
On the flip side, we’ve got the ever-legendary Gary Oldman vying for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama series for his role in Slow Horses, that Apple TV+ thriller. He’s hanging with the likes of Rufus Sewell and Sterling K. Brown. Classic old-school competition. Just what we needed: another reminder that people get awards for pretending to be other people.
Will Carey’s Beef actually hold its own against these familiar names? Who knows? But let’s be real—does it even matter?
