Oh honey, grab your chamomile tea because the drama just got real in the sports world! Our beloved baseball star, Bryce Harper — yes, the one with the dreamy eyes and a knack for controversy — is reportedly feeling some type of way after a video he filmed went completely off-script. Apparently, he thought he was just making a sweet Cameo for a guy battling some serious gambling demons, but lo and behold, FanDuel swooped in and snagged it for their promo without his consent. YIKES.
Sources say a deep dive from the Philadelphia Inquirer reveals that the lucky recipient of Bryce’s kind words, one Terry Thompson, has been tossing around a staggering $18.5 million in bets since 2020 and has lost about $2 million in the process (seriously, what?!). Now Bryce is saying that had he known his heartfelt message would be turned into gambling gold, he would have hit the brakes. I mean, who wouldn't?
In an Instagram post — because where else do we air our grievances these days? — Bryce expressed his shock and disappointment. He claims that someone named 'Bryttanni' placed the Cameo order under the impression it was just a heartfelt fan moment. But then, boom, FanDuel slapped their logo on it and started using it to promote their gambling agenda. Bryce is not here for it and firmly stated, “I did not know FanDuel would do this, I did not consent to it, and FanDuel had no right to do it.” Can you blame him? It’s giving complicated.
Let’s hope everyone involved takes a moment to reflect on their choices — and maybe consider a little therapy while they’re at it! For now, Bryce is keeping it low-key and listening to his legal team. Sending love his way!
