A certain icon, Richard Gere, 76, just had a totally normal day in New York City, getting handsy with his 28-year-old co-star. Yes, it’s exactly what you think. While filming Asymmetry, which, let’s face it, is literally about an older dude getting involved with a much younger woman, the pair was spotted holding hands and sharing some not-so-wholesome moments (cough).
The film features a young editorial assistant named Alice, played by Diana Silvers, who crosses paths with a renowned author—played by our seasoned friend Richard—while wandering through Central Park. Super romantic, right? Until you remember she’s practically the same age as Gere’s own son, Homer, 26, who’s busy grinding it out in Hollywood. Talk about keeping it in the family!
I guess they’ll figure out how to handle this life-changing connection until their not-so-secret romance makes headlines. Directed by Edward Zwick, there’s a sliver of hope it won’t be too cringe. But with Richard’s history, it’s bound to be a whole thing. Will it be good? Who can say. But we’ll definitely be watching. Take notes, kids
